Our top 5 cruises along the Pink Granite Coast

Ajouter aux favoris

Fancy playing Captain Haddock during your holiday in Brittany? Goodness me! Head to the Pink Granite Coast for a boat trip that’s all about the sea air. This is one of our favourite things to do here. Whether you’re watching seabirds in the middle of a fishing spree, stepping ashore on a flower-filled island or sailing down a river steeped in history, the region is best explored (and above all) from the sea. All you have to do is choose your itinerary from our 5 cruises! Ready to come aboard?

Boat trip #1

Les Sept-Îles, a haven for seabirds

Departure point: the harbour at Perros-Guirec, Trégastel or Ploumanac’h

Setting off from Trestraou beach in Perros-Guirec or from Trégastel in season, this cruise takes the whole crew to the heart of Brittany’s largest bird sanctuary. And France’s too! For nearly two hours, this cruise takes you on a leisurely journey through the waters between the islands of the archipelago. Keep your eyes peeled: you’ll be able to spot northern gannets nesting on the cliffs, Atlantic puffins diving headfirst as they fish, and grey seals basking in the sun. All of Brittany’s marine wildlife thrives here! And this is, in fact, the perfect boat trip to become an expert on the subject. If you enjoyed the outward journey, just wait until you see the return leg. You’ll sail alongside the granite massif, sculpted by erosion over 300 million years, one of the highlights of our destination.

The little extra on the boat trip:
A stop on Île aux Moines is sometimes possible. It’s a chance to stretch your legs on a short walk across the windswept landscape. Maritime legends and tales of privateers are the focus!

The captain’s tip:

Bring your binoculars to make the most of the aerial spectacle during your boat trip. The on-board guides will teach you how to tell the difference between terns, gulls and puffins. And with a bit of luck, you’ll catch a glimpse of one of Brittany’s legendary lighthouses!

Boat trip #2

Batz Island from Trébeurden

Departure point: Trébeurden harbour

Set sail on a boat trip aboard the Batz Island speedboats! The cruise takes you to a unique island, setting off from Trébeurden harbour. Batz is an unusual, windswept haven of greenery. On the island, granite blends with the subtropical vegetation that thrives in the region. Yes, yes, you really are in Brittany! Your stopover is also a chance to leave the boat’s choppy waters behind and slip on your walking boots. Or even hop on a bike and explore the island’s trails! Before heading back on board, be sure to climb the steps to the lighthouse to admire the 360° view of the surrounding area. And don’t forget to take a deep breath of fresh air (and nature) in the paths of the Georges Delaselle Garden!

Don’t miss this during your boat trip:

If you’re looking for an Instagram-worthy spot, you’ve made the right choice by taking a cruise to Batz Island. The shades of green and pink really stand out in the late afternoon light! Work up an appetite on the water? A crêpe with salted caramel in one of the town’s cafés, of course. It’s the perfect way to combine exploring the landscapes of the Pink Granite Coast with a 100% Breton treat.

Boat trip #3

Set sail on the Trieux!

The cruise departs from Lézardrieux harbour

Set sail for the Trieux! This new boat tour takes you along this winding river, lined with centuries-old oak trees and mysterious manor houses. Setting off from Lézardrieux, the gentle flow of the water guides you, along with the crew, to the small town of Pontrieux. Its laid-back way of life is legendary, with its 50 flower-bedecked wash houses (no less!) and its cobbled streets. On board the boat, the captain will share the best of local history and the legends of the Trégor with you. It’s enough to make this boat cruise feel like a journey back in time!

On the hunt for information

Did you know? Pontrieux takes its name from the stone bridges that span the river. Simple and effective!

Boat trip #4

Bréhat, the island of flowers

Departure point: l’Arcouest

Fifty shades of blue on a boat trip – it’s possible in Brittany! Climb aboard and head for the island of Bréhat, where the blue of the water gradually gives way to that of the agapanthus. They’re blooming in abundance round here! To explore the island, the choice is yours. Whether on foot for a short hike (just over 9 kilometres, mind you) or by bike, you can set the pace that suits you best. In the south, stroll through the village with its charming narrow streets and admire the lush gardens with their almost exotic feel. In the north, discover a wilder and more spectacular natural landscape, dominated by the majestic Paon lighthouse facing the sea and the elements!Fancy extending your getaway? Treat yourself to a guided boat cruise and discover the secrets and history of the island of Bréhat.

Not to be missed during the boat trip:
You can take a boat trip around the island before disembarking, for a panoramic view from the water.
