Travel through time in Lannion!

The secret to a successful journey through time is to have a good guide! In Lannion, you’ll find it at the town’s tourist office. Go to the Quai d’Aiguillon, facing the waters of the Léguer. Here, your tour guide will be waiting to take you on a one-and-a-half-hour tour of the rich past of this town on the Pink Granite Coast.

It all began in the Middle Ages. You reach the 12th-century church by climbing the steps of Brélévenez one by one. From the top, a breathtaking view of the whole of Lannion awaits you! After listening carefully to your guide’s historical comments and taking a few photos, it’s time to head back down towards the centre and its half-timbered houses.

As you stroll along, you’ll learn more about the town’s history, monuments, architecture and legends! From the fountain of ferruginous water and its powers to the legend of the Dahut, if you choose to take a guided tour of Lannion, the Pink Granite Coast will no longer hold any secrets for you!

Push open the doors of the Templar church of Brélévenez

High above the town, overlooking the coastline and countryside of the Pink Granite Coast, stands the Trinity Church of Brélévenez: impossible to miss! But while a visit to this holy place dating back to the Middle Ages is a must in Lannion, it has to be earned, and to get there you’ll have to climb the 140 steps leading up to the entrance. Far from being a way of the cross, the granite staircase passes through some very pretty stone houses, typical of Brittany.

Once you reach the top of the Crec’h Tanet hill, where the church is located, you can enjoy a superb panoramic view over the roofs of Lannion, the River Léguer and the surrounding villages of Ploubezre and Ploulec’h.

The tour continues in the church, where superb colourful statues, two altarpieces, numerous granite sculptures and a crypt await you. As you walk around the building, you can admire the mix of architectural styles ranging from the 12th century to the early 15th century. As you walk along the stone walls of the church, a whole section of Brittany’s history comes into view.

Stroll through the historic centre

As you stroll through the centre of Lannion, you’ll be greeted by sublime half-timbered houses, relics of the town’s golden age. Their 15th and 16th century facades, slate roofs and colourful shop fronts look as if they’ve stepped straight out of a fairytale. Inspired by medieval and Renaissance architecture, these beautiful buildings are still standing today, much to the delight of amateur photographers.

To enjoy these postcard-perfect settings, simply stroll through the narrow cobbled streets of Lannion. A symbol of a time when the port city was one of the most prosperous in Brittany, they are now home to shops, bars and restaurants. If you’re looking for a little break during your visit to Lannion and the Pink Granite Coast, take a seat on a terrace facing one of these timber-framed houses. Enjoy a delicious local speciality in the Brittany sunshine and take a trip back to medieval Lannion.

Entering the Ursuline chapel

Enjoyed your first historical and cultural discoveries? Good news, there’s another one waiting for you: the chapel and former convent of the Ursulines! Yes, if you’re a fan of fine stonework, there’s plenty to do in Lannion! Although the nuns have now left this holy place, you can still admire the 17th-century architecture on the outside, as well as the rooms that host numerous exhibitions.

Under the stone walls, painters, sculptors, photographers and other regional artists take advantage of this place steeped in history to showcase their work. All year round, families come here to discover their work, as well as the Ursuline chapel, a holy place emblematic of the town of Lannion.

Going green

Once you’ve walked the cobbles and admired the stonework, it’s time to take to the paths, the green and the fresh air! Head for the Goas Lagorn valley, its beach and its trail through moorland, dunes, hedgerows and forests. Your adventure in the great outdoors begins under the trees of the Trébeurden woods. Between forests and meadows, you’ll catch a glimpse of the Chapelle Saint-Thurien perched high above the valley, and the ruins of the Crec’h Meur Meur farm. Then it’s the turn of the moors and dunes to make their appearance, and little by little you leave the earth for the sand and the trees of the forest for a few maritime pines.

Finally, to round off this beautiful walk through the Lannion valley with a touch of the sea, end on the beach at Goas Lagorn. Relax on the sand, swim, surf or bodyboard… The Pink Granite Coast is the perfect place to recharge your batteries after your hike!
