The Saint-Maudez fountain bears witness to the existence of the eponymous chapel, which was destroyed in the early 19th century. It is associated with two wash-houses, as are devotional fountains and wash-houses elsewhere in Lower Brittany, thus combining a sacred dimension with secular activity.
