The Notre-Dame de Pitié chapel is a historic landmark in La Roche-Derrien, evoking the Battle of La Roche-Derrien, the first battle for the Succession of the Duchy of Brittany.
The Notre-Dame de Pitié chapel was built on the Mézeaux hillside, on the site of the windmill at the foot of which Charles de Blois was arrested during the battle of La Roche-Derrien in 1347.
Uprooted by the storm of 1999, the centuries-old yew tree was planted, according to tradition, by Du Guesclin in memory of Charles de Blois.
An oratory dedicated to Notre-Dame de Pitié is thought to have preceded the construction of the chapel. Built in the 16th century by the Dutertre family, the current building was restored in 1777, as attested by the dated stone on the west gable. The bay window in the chevet dates from the second half of the 13th century.

The chapel is open during the season. Information is available from the Mairie.
