I climb to 7th heaven

A freefall jump over the Côte de Granit Rose, a pure sensation of freedom!
That’s the “Waouh” effect I felt during my tandem parachute jump with the instructor from 7ème Ciel, the Lannion skydiving club. A vertical glide with a panoramic view of exceptional nature.

Taking the plunge

By dint of talking about it!
One day, it just happened!

I’m going to skydive. The reservation was made. With my medical certificate in hand, we just waited for the ideal weather window. The next day, the phone rang:
– Hello, Vincent, this is 7ème Ciel parachutisme, are you available to jump at the end of the afternoon?
That was it, my first dose of adrenalin!

Cool atmosphere at 7ème Ciel

A little early for my appointment, I head for the tarmac and the 7ème Ciel parachutisme premises. A straw hut atmosphere and lounge music at the reception desk. I’m immediately recognized by Daphnée:
– “Hi Vincent, you’re ready! You’re going to make your jump with Clément. Patrice will be here in a few moments to get you kitted out.”
I wait a few minutes and Patrice arrives, big smile on his face, with the harness:
– “Vincent?! You can come along, we’ll get you kitted out and brief you”.
There, it’s getting clearer, another little dose of adrenalin!

Technical briefing

As Patrice installs the harness, he speaks softly to me to lower my blood pressure. He’s super reassuring, everything is clear and precise. Every step of the jump is explained, from boarding the plane to landing. Patrice finishes his briefing and introduces me to Mathis, the professional photographer who will accompany us on the jump. Reassured, the desire to go takes precedence over apprehension.
Suddenly, the Pilatus, the skydiving club’s plane, pulls up not far from us, a 3rd dose of adrenalin.

Ascent to 7th heaven

We head for the plane’s fuselage. With the door wide open, I climb aboard. The smell of kerosene tells me: – “It’s time to leave the cow floor”.
The door closes, the Pilatus heads for the end of the runway, and off we go. The atmosphere on board is really fun between all the skydivers: instructors and neophytes. The plane climbs easily: 1000 m, 2000 m, 3000 m.

Idyllic scenery for a happy skydiver

The landscape below us is magnificent. Beg-Léguer, Trébeurden and its marina, the Ile Grande, the Radôme… The Pink Granite Coast emerges through a unique palette of colors. Suddenly, 4000 m: a check between present, then the little bell that gives the green light to the jumps.
The door opens! The fresh wind rushes in: adrenalin still!

Flying at 200 km/h

We take turns approaching the door. Clément gives me the final instructions. Now’s the time, my legs are out of the plane and Clément is holding my head back in the banana position! Then he announces:
– “Ok, that’s it! Here we go!”.
After a few seconds, I spread my arms and we stabilize at a speed of 200 km.h-1. It’s fantastic, I’m serene and free-falling is a sensation of pure freedom. I’m flying!

The adrenaline rush increases my senses tenfold. We throw ourselves into the void.
“Waouh, that’s strong”.

Flying under canopy

After 50 seconds of freefall, Clément announces 1500 m and opens the parachute. Deceleration gives way to canopy flight. It’s a moment of plenitude. I enjoy the panorama even more. I’m light, flying like Jonathan Livingston The Gull, or a Northern Gannet from the 7 Islands Archipelago, which I can see clearly. It’s at this point that Clément asks me if I still want to discover some sensations: – “It’s OK by me!”
He then goes into a spin, successively accelerating and decelerating. It’s bliss!

Back on the ground

At last, the flight comes to an end, I raise my legs on my chest and Clément touches the ground, so I have to run to help him land. A check to Clément and Mathis! My friend adrenalin has given way to her cousins dopamine and serotonin. Great, I want to go back up to 7th Heaven!
