Tréguier, a former episcopal see

The visitor services team at the Côte de Granit Rose Tourist Office will take you on a guided tour of the ‘Petite Cité de Caractère®’ of Tréguier, the historic capital of Trégor.

Starting at Saint-Tugdual Cathedral and its cloister, Yvette, your tour guide, will reveal the historical, heritage and architectural treasures of this ancient Breton episcopal city.

A Gothic gem and a city of literature

Towering above the rooftops, the cathedral’s impressive openwork spire rises to a height of 63 metres. Built from the 13th century onwards in a remarkable Gothic style, Saint-Tugdual Cathedral ranks amongst the finest religious buildings in Brittany. After admiring the elegance of its porches, take in the pulpit, richly decorated with floral motifs, the fascinating bestiary carved into the choir stalls, and the tomb of Saint Yves.
Tréguier is also a town steeped in history, culture and heritage, where contemplation, scholarship and commitment have, over the centuries, inspired men of letters, lawyers and clergymen, from Saint-Tugdual to Saint-Yves, and from Ernest Renan to Anatole Le Braz.

This guided group tour includes a 1½-hour stroll around the cathedral, revealing the secret of the Petite Cité de Caractère®.
