A singular horizon
A small seaside resort on the Pink Granite Coast, Saint-Michel-en-Grève is best known for its 4-kilometre-long beach of fine sand. But the commune has many other treasures, including its 15th-century church, built on Gallo-Roman remains and dedicated to the Archangel Saint Michel. At high tide, admire the waves crashing against the walls of one of Europe’s rare marine cemeteries, drenching a few tombs along the way. A stone’s throw from this holy site, you’ll find the streets of Voie romaine and Place du Martray, home to a number of remarkable Breton houses, with their slate roofs and granite walls.
