Spending a holiday in Brittany without enjoying the seaside would be a bit like a lump of butter without salt: it’s unimaginable!

So to make sure you don’t miss the call of the sea during your holiday in Côte d’Armor, we’re sharing our ideas for enjoying a weekend in Brittany by the sea. With your feet in the water or on the sand, on a boat or around a nice table, get ready for an iodised holiday with our 10 ideas!

Tip no. 1: Wake up to the rhythm of the waves

On the Pink Granite Coast, we have a secret for getting the day off to a good start. We don’t set alarms, we wake up to the sound of the waves. If you’d like to try out this 100% local method during your weekend by the sea in Brittany, the first thing to do is find accommodation with your feet in the water! In Trébeurden or Louannec, on a campsite or in a hotel, once you’ve found your holiday destination, you can enjoy the sea and its benefits.
The scent of sea spray in the morning, an iodised breakfast and the roll of the swell that accompanies you until nightfall… One thing’s for sure, during this short break in the Côtes d’Armor, you’ll love getting up at the crack of dawn!

Tip no. 2: Relax on the beach

Why not take advantage of this weekend by the sea in Brittany to perfect your tan? Yes, we did say tan, because UV rays also shine on our beaches! To come back from your holiday with a tanned complexion, make yourself comfortable on the sand and let the Breton sun have its effect. Take a towel, sun cream and sunglasses with you to the heavenly beach of Coz-Porz, the wild beach of Le Royau or the beach of La Lieue de Grève.

And don’t forget to take an umbrella, but only to protect yourself from the sun: as you know, it never rains in Brittany!

Tip no. 3: Walk along the coast

The good news is that you don’t have to walk on water to go hiking in Brittany! Along the coastline of the Côtes d’Armor, numerous footpaths wind their way between beaches, coves and cliffs. So you can enjoy the spectacle of the sea while staying dry. On the Sillon de Talbert or the GR34, the famous customs path, between the Presqu’île Renote and Ile Milliau, make your way along and discover some of the most beautiful scenery on the coast.
You can already warm up and do a bit of exercise – this weekend in Brittany by the sea promises to be a good one!

Tip no. 4: Saddle up!

Leave the car in the garage and discover the treasures of our little corner of Brittany at the pace of your calves, with your nose to the wind and your handlebars out of the way! Cycling takes holidays to a whole new level: fetching bread by the narrow lanes, strolling along by bike… Freedom and peace set the pace for your days out with family or friends. And what’s more, it’s good for your health… and that of the planet!

So get on your bike and explore the Pink Granite Coast!

Tip no. 5: Get away to an island

To find a little peace and quiet during your weekend in Brittany, head to one of the many islands along the coast. On the island of Bréhat, just a few kilometres from the mainland, you’ll feel like you’re on the other side of the world. On the other hand, we have to warn you, you won’t be the first to set foot on this island. But if you look hard enough, you’ll have no trouble finding a cove or a wild beach where you can be left alone for a while.

Don’t want to share your island with other people? Then head for the 7 Islands archipelago nature reserve. Here, the only living creatures you’ll come across are puffins, razorbills and gannets, or for the more imposing: grey seals. So yes, this archipelago island in Brittany is ideal for a retreat, but the locals can be a bit noisy!

Tip no. 6: Take the helm

Before setting off for your weekend by the sea in Brittany, we recommend that you revise (or learn) the maritime code! Once you’ve arrived in port and had your first boat trip, it’s up to you to take the helm.
Aboard a sailboat, a sea kayak or standing up on a paddle, during this day on the water, you are the captain. Choose your boat, form your crew and set sail. Around an island, along beaches or from the water, you can discover some of Brittany’s most beautiful landscapes. A bit of practice, a bit of experience and you’ll be ready to cross the Atlantic on your next holiday!

Tip no. 7: Take in the tidal spectacle

Forget screens, video games and Netflix, in Brittany you’ll be sitting in front of the sea! Every year, the spring tides put on a dazzling show that’s not to be missed. If you want to be there, check the dates of the next tides and then book your weekend by the sea in Brittany. To find the best seats, we advise you to come early in the morning or before nightfall. Choose a comfortable seat facing the beach, take along a few delicacies to nibble on (a good galette will do!) and wait patiently for the show to begin. On the programme: a sound and light show where the main actors are the waves, the moon and the rocks.

Tip no. 8: Go for it

If you want to keep your figure during your weekend by the sea in Brittany, follow the Breton diet based on physical activity and iodised food! The programme starts gently with a few exercises on the beach.
There’s no need to put on trainers, all you need is a spade and a bucket. Yes, you’ve guessed it, it’s all about fishing on foot. On the beach, look for holes in the sand and dig for razor clams, clams and other shellfish. This fun activity is sure to please the whole family.

Now that you’ve unearthed some delicious seafood for the starter, it’s time to find the main course. This time, swap the bucket for a fishing rod and head for the sea or river! With a bit of luck, the fish will bite and you’ll have enough to eat for the rest of your stay in Brittany.

Tip no. 9: Enjoy a seafood platter

Would you rather put your feet under the table than in the sand? Don’t worry, you don’t have to go fishing – you can get your seafood from a fishmonger! On the menu: periwinkles, spider crabs, oysters and crab. Yes, during your stay in Brittany, your lunches and dinners will be iodised!
But for those who don’t appreciate this delicious taste of the sea, Brittany is full of specialities. Galette, pâté, andouille, onions… If you want to try it all, you’ll have to extend your weekend or come back for a longer stay during the summer holidays!

Tip no. 10: Dive into a seawater pool

During your weekend by the sea in Brittany, don’t forget to take a moment to yourself! After strolling along the beaches, sailing along the coastline and pleasing the whole family, push open the doors of the Forum aquatic centre in Trégastel. Here you can take a dip in the seawater pool, swim in the thalassotherapy course and enjoy the spa and sauna. If you’re still wondering where the Bretons get their legendary good humour from, during your holiday you can discover their secrets: a seawater-based thalasso!
