On this site, there are 4 hollowed-out basins lined with stone walls that were once used for retting flax (immersing it in water to make it easier to extract the fibres). In the 19th century, there were more than 6,000 of these in the whole of Trégor!
On this site, the mills are fed by a small fountain from which water circulates from basin to basin before joining a small stream.
These flax mills have been restored by the Skol ar C'hleuziou association, which is very active in restoring and maintaining rural heritage, particularly in the communes of Pouldouran, Pleumeur-Gautier and Trédarzec.
There are also other sites nearby, such as the Zant Douron and Prad Lez mills.
To find out more, visit the Maison des talus et des routoirs à lin in Pouldouran.
