The gateway to the Trégor region, Plouaret (Plouared in Breton), which has been awarded the Commune du Patrimoine Rural de Bretagne label, is 20 minutes from Lannion and the pink granite coast, and 30 minutes from Guingamp and Morlaix.
It is located on two watersheds renowned for their environmental qualities:
- The Léguer and its Wild River Site label, the only one of its kind in Brittany
- The Lieue de Grève and its Plounérin Regional Nature Reserve.
Keen to preserve its environment, Plouaret has preserved a dense network of hedged farmland and a large network of sunken lanes.
The commune has a rich built heritage, part of the Pays d'Art et d'Histoire. Its 16th-century church, listed as a historic monument, its fountains and manor houses will delight you during your stay. The recently renovated village, which has been awarded the Village Fleuri label, offers a warm welcome.
The town's intangible heritage has been given pride of place, transporting you into the world of traditional tales from Lower Brittany. Over a glass of cider and some crêpes (krampouz in Breton), discover :
- The multilingual interpretation trail ‘Au tour de Luzel’ (‘Around Luzel’)
- The ‘Echappées de Luzel
- Storytelling walks, exhibitions and concerts throughout the year
As part of the Mon Tro Breizh® itinerary (St Pol de Léon / Tréguier stage), discover the authenticity of this village on its hiking, horse-riding, mountain-biking and cycling trails.
Children and teenagers will not be outdone, as they will be able to enjoy the free leisure park and sports area with its many facilities: playgrounds, tree climbing course, city stadium, BMX and trials track, skatepark, pumptrak, tennis and archery...
