The parish church in Prat is dedicated to Saint Peter. This saint had the ability to open and close the gates of Paradise thanks to two keys (one in gold, celestial, the other in silver, terrestrial).
The original building, erected in 1620-1622 (according to the vintages located halfway up the bell-tower), soon proved too small for the number of worshippers. The Beaumanoir-inspired wall-belfry remains from this period, although the lead-covered spire has disappeared.
The cross-shaped church comprises a nave with six-bay aisles and a wall belfry, and a choir. To the right of the last bay of the nave, two wing chapels form the cross. With the exception of the tower, the church dates from the 18th century. The bell tower dates from the 17th century. It is listed as a Monument Historique.
It is open during the European Heritage Days and on request from the town hall.
