Port de Toul an Héry, 22310 Plestin-les-Grèves
Sainte-Barbe was the chapel of the coastguards whose batteries defended the port of Toul an Héry against the English invaders from the end of the 16th century until the Napoleonic era. It was even used as barracks when, in the year IV, it housed the artillerymen of the 2nd battalion of the Hautes-Alpes. However, the chapel existed long before the creation of the coastal militia. After the Revolution, the chapel of Sainte-Barbe was regularly maintained by Jacob, the former head of the Toul an Héry customs, whose two sons, Yves and Joseph, continued to devoutly conserve the building as managers of the factory.
Situated in the port of Toul an Héry, near the ‘sentier des Douaniers’, it is a reminder of the presence of the coastguards, of whom it is the patron saint. They were responsible for defending the country against invasions.
The building has been listed as a Historic Monument since 9 October 1934.

Pardon: Before the last weekend in August.
Open in summer from mid-July to mid-August every afternoon as part of the Chapels Tour.
