Stand Up Paddle in Brittany

When we arrived on vacation in Brittany, on the Côte de Granit Rose, we decided to take up a water sports challenge. We, true freshwater sailors, wanted to have some fun and, above all, share a moment together. Our choice was made, we were going to walk on water: Get up, Stand Up Paddle here we come!

Leaving the cow floor

Once we arrived at the nautical base, we donned our neoprene wetsuits. It’s a case of who looks most like a penguin, and just as well, there’s a whole colony of them on the 7 Islands Archipelago off Perros-Guirec. Then, equipped with our paddles, we make our way to the beach, where our boards await us.

Let’s glide!

A few instructions to attach the leach to the board, and we’re off on our boats. Without forcing it, I feel the sensation of gliding and I move away from the shore on my Stand Up Paddle.

Walking on water

Within minutes, we’ve all gained confidence and are gliding across calm water, towards the granite chaos. “All of us! Except Paul. Without knowing why, he makes circles in the water and inevitably it’s “plouf”! – “It doesn’t matter, it’s super good,” he says, his head barely out of the water. The instructor comes over to explain how to manage his position on the paddle. And off we go. Paul joins us. At last, I’m walking on water!

100% nature pleasure

Our walk offers us a different view of the coastline, one of seabirds, sailors returning to port, the smell of iodine and the waves that push us along. With the rhythm of paddle strokes, I discover coves and little creeks hidden from view by coastal paths. It’s a time for disconnecting, or rather reconnecting, with all our senses. I enjoy these moments with friends. Back on the beach, I enjoy the waves, and now I’m surfing.

Battleship with friends

Filled up with discovery and serotonin, we make the most of the gentle waters to end the ride with a naval battle, the winner of which will be the last person still standing on his stand-up paddle. “Well, I lost,” says Coralie, the big winner of this nautical joust.

A desire for something bigger: the giant paddle!

On the way back to the beach, we came across a giant paddle. We all looked at each other: “That’s for us! Our tribe absolutely must try out this machine before the end of the vacations. Wow!

The water is so clear that my paddle-board “flies” over the seabed!
