Ker Dreger - Ecomusée des révolutions agricoles

Ker Dreger, housed in a former village farm in Plouigneau, is an eco-museum dedicated to the lives of our great-great-great-grandparents in the Trégor countryside, from the 1860s to the 1970s. And it is much more than just a museum; it is a veritable Breton village covering 8,000 m², centred around the main house and surrounded by farm buildings, the agricultural machinery gallery, the crafts street, and the exhibition on agricultural revolutions, which opened in 2023. You’ll particularly enjoy the collection of vintage tractors and bicycles, featuring exceptional and very old pieces such as the 1916 McCormick from the USA, or the motorised Derny tandem from the 1930s. Inside the house, discover three stages in the evolution of homes, from the 1900s to the 1970s. The gradual arrival of modernity will lead us to the 1970s living room, where you might recognise some familiar objects… Children will, of course, want to spend time in the playroom, where they’ll find around ten traditional Breton wooden games, a table football table (invented in 1885) and pedal-powered tractors. They can climb onto one of the machines on display in the shed and try on the dunce’s cap in the classroom. The ecomuseum is a wonderful bridge between grandparents’ childhood memories and the everyday lives of their grandchildren! What makes the ecomuseum so rich and unique is also the interaction with the team of volunteers and guides, who will be more than happy to explain how cauliflowers and artichokes are grown, share the tips and ingenuity of our forebears, and recount anecdotes from everyday life… From box beds and ‘billigs’ to butter churns, these objects will hold no secrets for you!
