The Douron, a small coastal river 38 km long, rises in Scrignac and flows into the English Channel between Locquirec and Plestin-les-Grèves. It flows through landscapes of peat bogs, wet meadows, woods and hedged farmland. The valley is home to unique animal species such as otters, Atlantic salmon and bats.... The estuary section, between Pont Menou and Pont Cornic, meanders through a complete ecosystem of cliffs, woodland, wet meadows, mudflats and salt meadows. This mosaic of environments is home to a concentration of plant and animal species.
At low tide, the mudflats provide a resting and feeding area for many birds. The estuary is prolonged by volcanic cliffs of ancient origin, which open up a view over the Bay of Lannion.
On the Corniche de l'Armorique, you'll discover the archaeological site of the Hogolo thermal baths. These remains are a remarkable testimony to the Gallo-Roman presence in Brittany, complemented by the confirmed presence of an ancient Roman road linking Carhaix (Vorgium) to the port of Toul an Héry.
