Plounérin nature reserve: A treasure trove of biodiversity in Brittany

Nestled in the heart of the Trégor countryside, the Plounérin nature reserve reveals its palette of colours and its preserved bocage, like an invitation to go green. Between ponds, meadows, moors and woods, there are many treasures to discover on family walks. A true paradise for nature lovers.

Getting there

A sanctuary for nature

Classified as a regional nature reserve in 2016, the Plounérin nature reserve is a jewel of biodiversity. Its 160 hectares of wetlands: meadows, moors, peat bogs, woods and ponds form a mosaic of habitats that are home to almost 1,200 species. These wooded areas are the legacy of human activities such as farming, combined with the work of nature. The reserve maintains this balance through grazing and sustainable management of the woodlands.

As a family, go on an adventure!

On the site of the Moulin Neuf pond, lead the investigation with Inspector Fri Furch to solve a strange case… kids will love it! Or share in a family nature treasure hunt thanks to a GPS trail. And for the more adventurous, there are signposted trails to help you discover the riches of this nature reserve. Unforgettable memories guaranteed!

Fauna and flora, watch the show

Among the thousands of species recorded, butterflies, dragonflies, birds, mammals… the reserve is home to a rich and varied fauna. The European otter, emblematic of the region, has made its home here. The observatories installed on the site allow you to admire the fauna in its natural environment. Lovers of botany will not be left out, with hundreds of rare species such as the drosera, a fascinating carnivorous plant that attracts insects to devour them! A fascinating spectacle for young and old alike!

Walking in the heart of nature

A number of waymarked hiking trails invite you to explore the different environments of the Plounérin nature reserve, whatever the season. The Tro Lann Droën, to the north of the reserve, will take you through undulating hedged farmland, while the loop around the Moulin Neuf pond will give you a breathtaking view of this natural area. Whether you’re a walker, a photographer or just a stroller, there’s something for everyone
