The little lexicon of the perfect Saint-Yves festival-goer

Pardon: A Breton tradition! It’s a religious and festive gathering, with mass, procession, banners and a whole village (or town) celebrating. In Tréguier, the pardon de saint Yves is one of the most emblematic in Brittany.

Procession of the “chef”: No, this is not a parade of cooks! The “chef” is the relic of the skull of Saint Yves, carefully preserved in a reliquary. Carried in procession from the cathedral to Minihy-Tréguier, it is at the heart of the festival.

Kantik Sant Erwann: The emblematic song of Saint Yves. Sung in Breton by the faithful in the cathedral, it makes the walls vibrate… and hearts.

Minihy-Tréguier: The arrival point for the procession, but also the birthplace of Saint Yves. Here you’ll find his former home, a chapel and a peaceful garden.

Legal colloquium: Less folkloric, but just as symbolic: Saint-Yves is also an opportunity for legal professionals to get together for a time of intellectual and ethical exchange.

Tugdual: The name of Tréguier cathedral, which houses the tomb of Saint Yves. A name that sings of Breton history.

Here, the essentials are cultivated: the Breton culture, the smiles exchanged, and the emotion when the town sets to the rhythm of forgiveness.
