Hiking between Perros-Guirec and Trégastel on the GR®34

With shoes laced up and bag on your back, it’s off for a one-way day’s hike along the GR® 34! From Trégastel, board the Puffin to reach the Plage de Trestraou in Perros-Guirec. You’ll then set off on a hike that takes in postcard-perfect scenery with its famous granite boulders, colorful moors and countless panoramic sea views, with the Sept Iles reserve as a backdrop.

Practical information

Program

Departure

Trestraou beach

Boarding for the Seven Islands

To kick off the day, embark on a guided sea excursion to the Sept Iles nature reserve, home to numerous seabirds including the famous puffin and the only gannet colony in France. On this occasion, you’ll also discover the Côte de Granit Rose from the sea, before setting off on the GR34®, the famous customs trail, this time with superb sea views.

Step 1

Ploumanac'h site

The famous “sentier des douaniers” crosses the sumptuous site of Ploumanac’h, with its chaos of colored granite, its emblematic lighthouse and the Seven Islands Reserve in the background. On this imposing rocky coastline and on the moor, the elements have sculpted the pink granite into evocative shapes such as a witch, an upside-down bottle or a rabbit.

Step 2

Saint-Guirec Oratory

You’ll reach the pretty beach of Saint Guirec, lined with blocks of pink granite and home to a curious oratory. Built in the 12th century, it is dedicated to Saint Guirec, the Welsh monk who came from across the Channel to evangelize Brittany in the 7th century. Next to the beach is a chapel dedicated to the saint.

Step 3

Trégastel tide mill

After passing the small, sheltered port of Ploumanac’h, you come across two ancient tide mills built at the end of the mysterious Traouïéros valleys. The one at Trégastel, dating from the 14th century, operated until 1932, producing energy at the mercy of the tides.

Step 4

Tourony peninsula

From the Tourony peninsula, you can see the whole of Sainte Anne Bay, with its many islets. One in particular stands out for the manor house it houses: Château de Costaeres. Depending on the tide, you may be tempted to take a kayak or paddle between the islets!

Step 5

La Presqu'île Renote

The tour of Ile Renote may only be 2 kilometers long, but it’s already a condensed version of the Côte de Granit Rose! The edge of Baie sainte Anne, views of Ploumanac’h and the Men Ruz lighthouse, a chaos of pink granite boulders, views of the 7 isles and, last but not least, a west-facing beach for what is one of the most beautiful spots to admire the sunset!

Try to spot the “painter’s palette” on the island and discover the surprising Trégastel dice, balanced on its pedestal.

Arrival

Coz Pors

At the end of this itinerary, you’ll reach Coz Pors, where you can take a break on the beach or on a terrace with a view of the sea, of course, and pink granite too!

And to relax after all that effort, enjoy the 30-degree seawater and all the facilities of the Trégastel forum.

How to get to the trailhead

Le Marcareux shuttle

Depart from Trégastel’s Coz Pors and board the Puffin shuttle! In less than 30 minutes, you’ll be dropped off at Trestraou beach, the starting point of the proposed 12.5km hiking itinerary.

You can also be dropped off at the port of Perros-Guirec if you’d like to take the longer route (18km).

If you’re already in Perros-Guirec, you can of course start the walk and take the shuttle back at the end of the day from Trégastel’s Coz Pors.
